O SIGET (Simpósio Internacional de Estudos de Gêneros Textuais) foi realizado anteriormente em 2003, 2004 e 2005, em três cidades Brasileiras (Londrina-PR, União da Vitória-PR e Santa Maria-RS). Cabe lembrar, contudo, que, em sua primeira edição, realizada na Universidade Estadual de Londrina, ele consistia em uma junção de dois eventos e contava com o nome SELIC & GET (Simpósio Internacional de Lingüística Contrastiva e Gêneros Textuais), passando a utilizar a sigla Siget a partir de sua segunda edição, em 2004. A partir da edição de 2005, o evento começa a assumir um caráter internacional, fortalecido na atual edição.

São objetivos do evento, em sua fase atual: 1) congregar pesquisadores brasileiros e estrangeiros envolvidos em estudos sobre gêneros textuais; 2) discutir questões teóricas e aplicadas relacionadas à pesquisa em gêneros textuais; 3) divulgar estudos teóricos e aplicados que possam contribuir para releituras de diferentes enfoques e abordagens postos sobre esse objeto de pesquisa; e 4) oportunizar a discussão de questões relevantes para a construção de uma agenda política e pedagógica que possa contribuir para as políticas governamentais.

Nesta 4ª edição, procurou-se dar ênfase aos seguintes temas:

• Análise de gênero textual;
• Gêneros textuais, ensino e aprendizagem da linguagem;
• Gêneros textuais e formação de professores;
• Gêneros textuais e práticas sociais diversas;
• Metodologia de análise de gêneros textuais;
• Outros tópicos relacionados aos gêneros textuais.

O Siget segue a linha das conferências espontâneas sobre gêneros textuais realizadas anteriormente em Ottawa, Vancouver e Oslo, com a diferença de que, devido a sua periodicidade e crescimento, está se estabelecendo como um espaço acadêmico regular para a discussão dos estudos de gênero textual.

Description

Siget (International Symposium on Genre Studies) took place previously in 2003, 2004 and 2005 in three Brazilian cities (Londrina-PR, União da Vitória-PR, and Santa Maria-RS). In its first edition, organized at Londrina State University, Siget actually consisted of two smaller events joined together, and went by the name of SELIC & GET (International Symposium of Contrastive Linguistics and Genre Studies), and only in the 2004 edition was the acronym Siget adopted. From the 2005 edition, the event took on an international character, which has been strengthened in the 2007 edition.

In its present stage, SIGET aims at: 1) gathering together researchers interested in genre studies; 2) facilitating discussions on theoretical and applied subjects related to research on genre; 3) making public theoretical and applied studies that can contribute to re-thinking the approaches and perspectives on this subject; 4) raising pedagogical and political questions that will lead to policy making.

In this fourth edition, the event has focused on the following themes:

• Genre analysis;
• Genre and language teaching-learning;
• Genre and teacher training;
• Genre and social practices;
• Genre analysis methodology;
• Other topics related to genre.

Siget follows the line of the spontaneous series of genre conferences which took place in Ottawa, Vancouver, and Oslo, with the difference that, due to its periodicity and constant growth, it is becoming a regular academic locus for the discussion of genre studies.
